About the Role
As an Assembly and Integration Technician at Blue Origin, you provide hands-on technical support to engineering and manufacturing teams. You will assemble, integrate, test, and troubleshoot prototype and production mechanical, structural, and avionics systems for lunar vehicles. Working from engineering drawings and detailed work instructions, you build and verify systems meet rigorous quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and integrate subcomponents and final assemblies of structural, mechanical, and avionics systems according to engineering specifications.
- Configure production work areas with tooling and equipment for efficient workflow.
- Operate precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers) to maintain safety and quality standards.
- Perform operational tests, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on assembled systems.
- Support transition from development to production and perform preventative maintenance.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for safety and efficiency.
- Maintain clean work areas following 5S principles.
Minimum Qualifications
- 0-3 years aerospace manufacturing, integration, or related field experience (Level I Technician); 3+ years for Level II; 5+ for Level III; 8+ for Senior.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
- Hands-on experience with assembly and integration of structural and mechanical systems, including torquing, Composi-Loks, jig positioning, drilling, and liquid shim.
- Basic electrical test proficiency (use of DMMs, knowledge of voltage/current/resistance).
- Avionics fabrication and assembly skills including soldering, crimping, and wire harnessing.
- Experience with bonding adhesives and sealants (polymeric mix and application).
- Proficiency with precision calibration tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers).
- Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Basic computer proficiency including Windows and Microsoft Office.
- U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card), or lawfully admitted as refugee/asylee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Drill precision holes using power feed, track, and hand drills in aluminum, titanium, Inconel, and composite materials.
- Prepare and treat surfaces for assembly and finishing including cleaning, marking, and sealant/adhesive/paint application.
- Fixture and secure components using jigs and specialized tooling.
- Inspect assemblies, identify discrepancies, and execute repairs or modifications.
- Direct experience with wing structure assembly/integration, avionics integration, and aerospace launch vehicle or spacecraft assembly.
- Small-scale Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) experience.
- Composites production experience.
- Industry certification, trade school training, or related degree.
- Knowledge of precision assembly processes for large aerospace components.
- Strong technical and leadership skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with industrial power vehicles (forklift, scissor lift, boom lift).
- Willingness to work overtime.
Shifts and Location
- Shift A: Monday-Thursday 5:00 AM-3:30 PM
- Shift B: Monday-Thursday 3:00 PM-1:30 AM
- Shift C: Friday-Sunday 5:00 AM-5:30 PM
- Location: Space Coast, FL
