About the Role

This Manufacturing Engineer position is part of Blue Origin Operations, supporting the Huntsville Engine Factory responsible for rate production of BE-4 and BE-3U engines that power the New Glenn vehicle. You will design and implement efficient manufacturing systems, ensure quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) to build reliable vehicles for space exploration
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods including precision machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and develop corrective actions
  • Ensure all work aligns with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines
  • Apply AI technologies and traditional manufacturing engineering tools to optimize processes and improve first-time quality

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university
  • 3+ years as Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years as Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, or 8+ years as Senior Manufacturing Engineer
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive
  • Experience with machining, assembly, balancing rotating hardware, non-destructive test, or precision clean processes
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design fundamentals
  • Basic tooling or fixture design and fabrication
  • Experience with Bill-of-Materials and BOM reconciliation
  • Strong organizational and project management skills (Gantt charting, JIRA, MS Project, Confluence)
  • Prior aerospace or automotive manufacturing engineering experience

Position Details

  • Location: Huntsville, AL
  • Multiple positions and shifts available
  • Shift B: Monday through Thursday, 5:00pm to 3:30am
  • Shift C: Friday through Sunday, 5:00am to 5:30pm
  • Shift D: Friday through Sunday, 5:00pm to 3:30am
