About This Role
You will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics for lunar vehicle production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin's mission.
- Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
- Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction.
Shift and Location
- 1st Shift: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
- Shift A: Mon-Thu 5am-3:30pm
- Shift B: Mon-Thu 3pm-1:30am
- Shift C: Fri-Sun 5am-5:30pm
- Shift D: Fri-Sun 5pm-5:30am
- Location: Space Coast, FL
- Relocation assistance available
- Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed.
Team Focus
Lunar Operations play a crucial role in the successful deployment and operation of Blue Origin's Lunar vehicles. This division collaborates closely with engineering, quality assurance, and logistics teams to guarantee that the vehicle meets all mission requirements and performs flawlessly in the challenging lunar environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role.
- 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive.
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
- Experience working with Bill-of-materials and BOM reconciliation.
- Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles.
- Experience with AS9100 quality standards.
