Role Overview
Join Blue Origin Operations as a Manufacturing Engineer supporting the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems for lunar tank assemblies. You will ensure stringent quality control, optimize production processes, and collaborate across teams to streamline operations and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support industrialization of new tank assemblies including welding, inspection, proof test, surface coatings, and integration
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT)
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
- Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly)
- Support root cause analysis of non-conformances and develop corrective actions
- Ensure work aligns with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality and safety standards
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of production lines and equipment
- Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering
- 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum
- Must be able to work second shift with flexibility to move shifts as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive
- Experience with aluminum welding, non-destructive testing, surface coatings, and proof testing
- Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design fundamentals
- Experience with Bill-of-Materials and BOM reconciliation
- Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles
- Experience with AS9100 quality standards

- Shift options: B (Mon-Thu, 3pm-1:30am), C (Fri-Sun, 5am-5:30pm), D (Fri-Sun, 5pm-5:30am)
