About the role

Blue Origin Operations seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems for lunar tank assemblies. You will ensure stringent quality control throughout production, optimize supply chain logistics, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines.

Position details

  • Location: Space Coast, FL (relocation available)
  • Shifts: Shift A (Mon-Thu, 5am-3:30pm), Shift B (Mon-Thu, 3pm-1:30am), Shift C (Fri-Sun, 5am-5:30pm), or Shift D (Fri-Sun, 5pm-5:30am)
  • Multiple shifts available; flexibility to move between shifts required

Key responsibilities

  • Support industrialization of new tank assemblies including welding, inspection, proof test, surface coatings, and integration
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT)
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly)
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment
  • Identify efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university (other relevant fields may apply)
  • 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering
  • 1 or more years of experience creating English work instructions
  • U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee
  • Ability to work second shift with flexibility to move shifts as needed; open to extended hours if required

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive
  • Experience with aluminum welding, non-destructive testing, surface coatings, and proof testing
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design fundamentals
  • Experience with Bill-of-Materials and BOM reconciliation
  • Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles
  • Experience with AS9100 quality standards
