Role Overview

Join Blue Origin Operations as a Manufacturing Engineer II supporting the Lunar Operations Core Components Manufacturing Engineering team. You will drive the development and production of critical lunar hardware, transforming raw materials into mission-ready components built to withstand the lunar environment. This role focuses on internally fabricated heat exchangers, compressors and cryo coolers.

Key Responsibilities

• Support industrialization of new products in solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures
• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT)
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly)
• Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions
• Ensure all work aligns with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality and safety standards
• Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment
• Identify efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities to optimize mission-scale production
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams
• Gain expertise in at least one key specialty area (solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, structures)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university
• 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
• 1 or more years of experience creating English work instructions
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or asylum grantee
• Ability to work second shift (Mon-Thu, 3PM to 1:30AM) with flexibility to move shifts and work extended hours as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or high-reliability industries
• Hands-on fabrication and assembly experience in aerospace, including heat exchangers, compressors and cryo coolers
• Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design fundamentals
• Experience with Bill-of-Materials (BOM) and BOM reconciliation
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles
• Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality and safety standards
• Master's degree in relevant field
• Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
• Experience designing, building and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly and testing
• Capacity to author detailed work instructions
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes (machining, welding, composites, assembly)
• Experience designing, commissioning, and troubleshooting tooling, jigs, fixtures, molds, and automated tooling
• Proficiency with PLM/MRP systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.)
• Prior involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) or transition to production in aerospace
• Strong foundation in DFM/DFA and manufacturing process development
• Experience supporting requirements generation and Interface Control Models (ICMs)
• Working knowledge of project management methodologies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills across diverse teams and geographic locations
• Experience with manufacturing automation, digital work instructions, or advanced metrology (CMM, laser scanning)
• Ability to work onsite in a fast-paced production environment

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range for WA applicants: $91,852.00 to $128,592.45 (other site ranges may differ)
