Position Overview

Join Blue Origin Operations as a Manufacturing Engineer supporting the industrialization and production of lunar mission hardware. You will design and implement efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control, and optimize supply chain logistics for lunar vehicle production at Space Coast, FL.

Key Responsibilities

• Support industrialization of new products including solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures for the Transporter vehicle
• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) to build reliable vehicles for space exploration
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods such as composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly
• Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and develop corrective actions
• Ensure all work aligns with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
• Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of production lines and equipment
• Identify efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities
• Gain expertise in key specialty areas such as composite structures, solar arrays, build flow, or avionics
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university (other relevant fields may apply)
• 5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
• 3 or more years of experience creating English work instructions
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum
• Must be able to work 1st shift (8am-5pm Mon-Fri) and have flexibility to move shifts as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant engineering field
• Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification
• Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
• Manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or high-reliability industries with expertise in composite structure manufacturing: tubes, honeycomb sandwich panels, molded parts, hand layup, tool and mandrel design, quality control, and composite repair
• Proficiency in CAD and FEA-based analysis software (Creo and ANSYS Workbench preferred; FEMAP, NASTRAN, NX Advanced Simulation, ProE Simulate/Mechanica)
• Ability to perform detailed hand calculations, freebody diagrams, and complex FEM/structural analysis
• Strong expertise in DFM and DFA, including transition from development to production design
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance/stack-up analysis, FMEA, and common manufacturing processes (CNC machining, mills, lathes, welding, sheetmetal, lifting/rigging, inspection, assembly)
• Hands-on experience with assembly and integration of aerospace vehicles and subsystems involving mechanisms, tubing, harnesses, and structural systems
• Experience designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly, or testing
• Familiarity with advanced metrology (CMM, laser scanning) and manufacturing automation
• Proficiency with PLM/PDM/MRP systems including Windchill and Teamcenter
• Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) and BOM reconciliation for complex mechanical assemblies
• Familiarity with industry standards (ASME BTH-1, ACI 318, JSC-65289, NASA SP-8077)
• Ability to support requirements generation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and Interface Control Models (ICMs)
• Hands-on cleanroom experience (ISO 8 preferred)
• Prior involvement in New Product Introduction (NPI) or production transition
• Working knowledge of project management methodologies
• Ability to mentor engineers and technicians
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on collaboration
• Commitment to mission assurance, quality, and attention to detail
