About the Role

Blue Origin Operations seeks experienced Manufacturing Engineers to join teams supporting lunar and spacecraft hardware production. You will own the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, supply chain, and production to streamline processes, reduce costs, and accelerate build timelines.

This is a pooling requisition for current and anticipated openings across multiple Lunar teams, shifts, and locations. Candidates will be matched to the right roles as needs are identified.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new flight and payload hardware: solar arrays, avionics, structures, mechanisms, integration and test, GSE, and more
  • Drive application and optimization of DFM, DFA, DFT across product lifecycle
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations to integrate products and accelerate build
  • Develop and maintain clear manufacturing documentation: work instructions, inspection plans, process flows, tooling
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technology: composites, advanced machining, additive, metrology, materials, automation
  • Lead, support, and document root cause investigations and drive corrective action
  • Ensure strict compliance to standards: AS9100, ISO 9001, NASA, UL, AWS
  • Own or support process FMEAs, risk assessments, equipment validation, and product qualification
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction; advocate for Lean/DFx principles
  • Mentor, coach, and support the technical development of engineers and technicians
  • Represent Manufacturing Engineering in program, customer, supplier, and cross-functional reviews

Specialty Domains

You will work within one or more core specialty areas:

  • Thermal and Fluid Systems: Lunar/spacecraft radiators, heat exchangers, active/passive thermal hardware, cryogenic and fluid/propulsion systems, pressure vessel and tank integration, qualification, and test
  • Structures and Integration: Complex aerospace structures, assemblies, pressure vessels, large-scale mechanisms, launch vehicle GSE, tooling, multi-axis/mechanized fabrication, structural analysis, NDT
  • Tooling and Ground Support Equipment: Design, build, test, and commissioning of flight tooling, automated assembly tooling, mechanical fixtures, lifting rigs, PLC/motion control systems, fabrication, maintenance, and integration
  • Solar Arrays and Avionics: Space-rated solar arrays: cell processing, wing/panel build, stringing, NASA standards; avionics/harnesses, ESD/bonding, cleanroom practices, advanced test/metrology
  • Assembly, Integration and Test: Complete vehicle/subsystem assembly and build flow sequencing, system-level integration and test, tuning, harnesses, tanks, structures, propulsion, avionics, qualification and certification
