About the Role

This is a pooling requisition for current and anticipated openings across multiple lunar teams, shifts, and locations within Blue Origin Operations. Candidates will be matched to specific roles as needs are identified.

You will own the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics across advanced lunar and spacecraft hardware. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, supply chain, and production to streamline processes, reduce costs, and accelerate build timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support industrialization of new flight and payload hardware: solar arrays, avionics, structures, mechanisms, integration and test, and ground support equipment.
  • Drive application and optimization of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) across the product lifecycle.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Develop and maintain clear manufacturing documentation: work instructions, inspection plans, process flows, and tooling specifications.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies: composites, advanced machining, additive manufacturing, metrology, materials, and automation.
  • Lead and document root cause investigations and drive corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance to aerospace standards: AS9100, ISO 9001, NASA, UL, and AWS.
  • Own or support process failure mode and effects analyses (FMEAs), risk assessments, equipment validation, and product qualification.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction; advocate for Lean and design for excellence (DFx) principles.
  • Mentor and support the technical development of engineers and technicians.
  • Represent manufacturing engineering in program, customer, supplier, and cross-functional reviews.

Specialty Domains

You will work within one or more of these core areas:

  • Thermal and Fluid Systems: Lunar and spacecraft radiators, heat exchangers, active and passive thermal hardware, cryogenic systems, propulsion, pressure vessels, and tank integration.
  • Structures and Integration: Complex aerospace structures, assemblies, pressure vessels, large-scale mechanisms, launch vehicle ground support equipment, tooling, fabrication, and structural qualification.
  • Tooling and Ground Support Equipment: Design, build, test, and commissioning of flight tooling, automated assembly tooling, fixtures, lifting rigs, and PLC/motion control systems.
  • Solar Arrays and Avionics: Space-rated solar arrays, cell processing, panel build, harnesses, ESD/bonding, cleanroom practices, and advanced test and metrology.
  • Assembly, Integration and Test: Vehicle and subsystem assembly, build flow sequencing, system-level integration, qualification, and certification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Relevant manufacturing engineering experience: 3 or more years at Level II Engineer, 5 or more years at Level III Engineer, or 8 or more years at Level IV Engineer.
  • Demonstrated experience creating clear, accurate manufacturing documentation: work instructions, bill of materials, and flow diagrams.
  • Ability to work required shift and site, with flexibility for extended shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or advanced degree in relevant engineering field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt, PMP, or equivalent certification.
  • For Thermal/Fluid Systems: hardware and system-level ownership, experience with spacecraft thermal control and pressure vessel qualification; knowledge of NASA, ASME, AWS, and UL codes.
  • For Structures and GSE: experience designing, building, and qualifying aerospace structures, pressure vessels, flight or ground support equipment, multi-axis mechanical systems, and PLC/motion control.
  • For Solar Arrays/Avionics: experience building and testing solar arrays, harnesses, and panels; proficiency with NASA-STD-8739 standards, ESD cleanroom practices, electronics systems, and advanced test methods.
  • For Assembly, Integration and Test: complex vehicle integration, subsystem troubleshooting, new product introduction (NPI), production transition, qualification, and certification.
  • Proficiency in CAD and PLM software: NX, CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, Teamcenter, Windchill, or MRP/BOM management systems.
  • Experience with advanced metrology: coordinate measuring machines (CMM), laser scanning, manufacturing automation, and digital work instructions.
  • Experience with analytical evaluation: DFM, DFA, finite element analysis (FEA), tolerance analysis, FMEA, and nondestructive testing (visual, dye penetrant, ultrasound, X-ray, computed tomography, eddy current, X-ray fluorescence).
  • Direct project ownership, technical leadership, and mentorship of engineering and operations teams.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in new product development, design-to-production transition, or DFx advocacy.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to represent manufacturing expertise across teams, customer and supplier interfaces, and technical reviews.
  • A record of mission assurance, world-class quality, and continuous improvement.
