Role Overview
Join Blue Origin Operations as a Manufacturing Engineer supporting the Lunar Mission Operations team. You will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics. This role supports industrialization of the Transporter vehicle and related lunar systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support industrialization of new products in solar arrays, integration and test, avionics, and structures.
- Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT).
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
- Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all work aligns with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
- Identify efficiency gains and cost reduction opportunities.
- Develop expertise in at least one specialty area: solar arrays, integration and test, build flow/sequencing, avionics, or structures.
- Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
Position Details
- Shift: A | Mon-Thurs (5am-3:30pm)
- Location: Space Coast, FL - Lunar Plant 2
- Travel: Up to 10% for training and support activities

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or other relevant fields) from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role.
- 3+ years of experience creating English work instructions.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Must be able to work second shift with flexibility to move shifts as needed; open to extended hours if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification.
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Aerospace or high-reliability industry manufacturing experience, with expertise in photovoltaic solar panel assembly for space applications, electronics assembly and test, component termination and soldering, harness assembly and installation, composite structure assembly, and adhesive bonding processes.
- Proficiency in CAD and FEA-based analysis software (Creo and ANSYS Workbench preferred; FEMAP, NASTRAN, NX Advanced Simulation, ProE Simulate/Mechanica also valued).
- Demonstrated ability in detailed hand calculations, free body diagram creation, and complex FEM/structural analysis.
- Strong expertise in DFM and DFA, including transition from development design to production.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance/stack-up analysis, FMEA, and common manufacturing processes (CNC machining, manual mills/lathes, welding, sheetmetal, lifting/rigging, inspection, assembly).
