About the role

Blue Origin Operations is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join the Lunar Operations team in Kent, WA. You will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production and Operations. This role supports the industrialization of lunar vehicles across multiple shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Support industrialization of new products in fluids, avionics, optics, antennas, and mechanical assemblies
• Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT)
• Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans
• Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods, such as composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly
• Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and develop corrective actions
• Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001)
• Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment
• Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction
• Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or other relevant field) from an accredited university
• 8 or more years of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering
• 1 or more years of experience creating English work instructions
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
• Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive
• Experience with specialty commodities or technologies such as multi-layer insulation (MLI), machining, fluids fabrication, harness fabrication, or composite fabrication
• Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including working knowledge of GD&T
• Experience working with Bill-of-Materials and BOM reconciliation
• Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices and principles
• Experience with AS9100 quality standards

Compensation and benefits

Base pay range for WA applicants: $134,434.00 to $188,207.25 annually. Other site ranges may differ.
