Mechanical Designer III - Harnessing - Lunar Permanence Verified today
About this role
You will support the development of spacecraft avionics and harness designs for the Transfer Stage vehicle within the Lunar Permanence Business Unit. This role is part of the team building sustainable infrastructure for crew and cargo transport from Earth to the lunar surface.
Your responsibilities
- Prepare design layouts and create detail part, assembly, and installation models using CAD and PLM tools.
- Apply company design and drafting techniques to plan, layout, and maintain engineering designs (drawings and model-based definitions).
- Interface with other vehicle subsystem teams to route harnessing in the vehicle model.
- Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure alignment with established specifications and standards.
- Implement engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to balance cost, schedule, and performance.
What you need
- 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
- Proficiency in drawing generation and release using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
- Knowledge of standard avionics components and harness routing in Creo.
- Knowledge of avionics brackets and secondary support structures.
- Experience managing large CAD assemblies and BOMs.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing world-class engineered products.
- Excellent attention to detail, task ownership, and pride in quality.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
Nice to have
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
- 7+ years of proven experience.
- Experience with Zuken.
- Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience with tube and pipe routing in Creo.
- Knowledge of standard installation and fabrication methods of fluid systems.
Compensation and location
Base pay varies by location: CA $39.34-$55.07/hour; CO $36.06-$50.48/hour; WA $39.34-$55.07/hour. Other site ranges may differ. Available at 5 locations.
