Role

You will design mechanical systems for the Transfer Stage Vehicle within the Lunar Permanence Business Unit. This role directly supports Blue Origin's mission to return humans to the Moon and establish permanent human presence beyond Earth.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design layouts and create detail part and assembly drawings using CAD and PLM tools.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure alignment with specifications and standards.
  • Support engineering teams in mechanical layout and detail design for structural parts and assemblies.
  • Apply company design and drafting techniques to create and maintain engineering datasets.
  • Implement engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to balance cost, schedule and performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design.
  • 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
  • Proficiency in drawing generation and release using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
  • Experience designing spacecraft primary structure, secondary structure, and component mounting hardware.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams responsible for material selection, manufacturing processes, and product development.
  • Excellent attention to detail, task ownership, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7 years or greater proven experience.
  • Experience releasing engineering data sets using Model Based Definition.
  • Experience with material selection, compatibility, and metallic manufacturing techniques including composites, sheet metal, and machining.
  • Experience designing for manufacturability.

Compensation

Base pay ranges vary by location: CA $39.34-$55.07/hour; CO $36.06-$50.48/hour; WA $39.34-$55.07/hour. Other site ranges may differ.
