About the Role

This position is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers. You will directly impact lunar exploration by building sustainable infrastructure for crew and cargo transport from Earth to the lunar surface.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, build, and integrate electrical and avionics hardware, software, and interconnect solutions for avionic systems
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and scripts for standalone and integrated environments
  • Conduct verification and validation testing, both ad-hoc and formal
  • Perform data interpretation, assessment, and analysis of integrated electrical and avionics systems
  • Support integration of vehicle hardware, ground support equipment, operator consoles, and analysis tooling
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in lab environments
  • Design, develop, and implement lab test tools and software to automate testing and improve efficiency
  • Support integration and test activities including wiring, hardware installation, and test bench setup
  • Participate in design and system reviews to provide feedback on integration and testability
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate hardware simulation and fault injection solutions with real-time vehicle simulations
  • Document test results and communicate risks, issues, and solutions to peers across technical backgrounds

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience working with electronics or electrical/electromechanical systems, including hands-on experience in prototyping, design, integration, and/or test
  • Understanding of digital, analog, and mixed-signal parts and their use: CPUs, FPGAs, microcontrollers, ADCs, DACs, OpAmps, Power Supplies (LDOs, Linear, DC/DC), MOSFETs, LVDS, SPI, I2C, RS422/232, Ethernet, and PCIe
  • Understanding of safety-critical systems development in aerospace, medical, or automotive
  • Experience integrating and testing vehicle systems
  • Experience developing special electronic test equipment and troubleshooting equipment
  • Proficiency with standard electronic lab test and troubleshooting equipment
  • Hands-on capability working independently and as part of a team through development and production phases
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Soldering, PCB rework, crimping, harness and connector assembly

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with development and execution of large-scale verification of avionics on autonomous spaceflight systems
  • Experience supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems
  • Programming experience in C++ and/or Python, or Simulink experience

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range for WA applicants: $130,706.00 to $182,987.70 (other site ranges may differ)

Stock options available for regular employees (20+ hours/week). Paid time off up to four weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, plus up to 14 company-paid holidays.
