MK1-Avionics Harness Design Engineer II Verified today
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. You will be responsible for a large portion of the electrical and mechanical harness design on the Mk1 Vehicle Electrical Harness Design team.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal
- Select harness components, hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire
- Create wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3
- Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling
- Create harness detail and installation drawings including 2D flat harness drawings from 3D harness data sets
- Design and integrate harness support brackets
- Support design configuration development and trade studies
- Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
- Support assembly and testing of cables and harnesses
- Report on activity schedule and technical status
- Identify opportunities for technical improvements
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area
- 3+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for the Aerospace industry
- Familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or experience with other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical or Catia
- Understanding and application of wire derating analysis
- Familiarity with applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4
- Strong electrical and mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with Creo, Zuken and Windchill
- Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes
- Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience with DFX concepts
- Experience with GD&T and ASME drawing practices
Compensation
Base pay range varies by location: CA $99,201-$138,880.35; CO $90,934-$127,307.25; WA $99,201-$138,880.35. Other site ranges may differ.
