This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. You will be responsible for a large portion of the electrical and mechanical harness design on the Mk1 Vehicle Electrical Harness Design team.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal
  • Select harness components, hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire
  • Create wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3
  • Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling
  • Create harness detail and installation drawings including 2D flat harness drawings from 3D harness data sets
  • Design and integrate harness support brackets
  • Support design configuration development and trade studies
  • Provide technical guidance for hardware installation
  • Support assembly and testing of cables and harnesses
  • Report on activity schedule and technical status
  • Identify opportunities for technical improvements

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • 3+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for the Aerospace industry
  • Familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill or experience with other high-end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical or Catia
  • Understanding and application of wire derating analysis
  • Familiarity with applicable harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620A, NASA-STD-8739.4
  • Strong electrical and mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Creo, Zuken and Windchill
  • Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes
  • Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience with DFX concepts
  • Experience with GD&T and ASME drawing practices

Compensation

Base pay range varies by location: CA $99,201-$138,880.35; CO $90,934-$127,307.25; WA $99,201-$138,880.35. Other site ranges may differ.
