MK1 Fluids Systems Engineer III - Lunar Permanence Verified today
Role Overview
This position is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, developing Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers. You'll work as part of the MK1 Fluids Systems Engineering team, applying systems engineering and propulsion expertise to build sustainable lunar transport infrastructure.
Blue Origin's first MK1 Lunar Lander, Endurance, will be the largest and most complex vehicle ever to land on the moon. The second MK1 will deliver NASA's VIPER rover to the lunar south pole.
Key Responsibilities
- Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with minimal oversight as part of the Fluids and Propulsion Integrated Product Team
- Lead subsystem trade studies from early concept through approval and implementation
- Perform fluids systems engineering tasks including leading trade studies, component design and integration, first-order analysis, and test support
- Ensure timely updates and communication of subsystem-level architecture diagrams and schematics
- Apply systems engineering fundamentals across the full development cycle: concept development, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
- Integrate fluids and propulsion subsystems with overall vehicle-level design, analysis, software, and operations
- Support development and execution of component and subsystem tests
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar technical field
- 5+ years of proven experience in fluids, propulsion, or aerospace systems
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive multi-subsystem integration, and lead trade studies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Established expertise across the full systems engineering development cycle (concept, requirements, design, analysis, integration, safety, configuration management, verification, and test)
- Experience with fluid and gas components: solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, accumulators, regulators, pumps, pressure vessels, and instrumentation
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Engineering degree
- Experience supporting projects through the full development cycle
- Experience leading trade studies to drive design improvements into fluids architecture
- Prior spacecraft fluid systems experience
- Prior cryogenics experience
- Experience with Hydrogen and Oxygen systems
- Experience with Jira and Windchill
Compensation
Base pay range varies by location:
- Colorado applicants: $110,938.00 to $155,312.85
- Washington applicants: $121,023.00 to $169,432.20
- Other site ranges may differ
