MK1 Fluids Vehicle Test III - Lunar Permanence Verified today
The Role
As Fluids Test Engineer in the MK1 Integration and Test team, you will develop and execute test plans for Blue Origin's lunar lander fluid and thermal systems. You'll lead daily test operations, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal and external customers to verify requirements and validate operational capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop test plans and procedures for vehicle level development and qualification testing
- Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal and external customers
- Work with design and systems engineers to plan tests of vehicle fluid and thermal systems, ensuring tests verify appropriate requirements
- Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing
- Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks
- Perform root cause analysis, system hazard analysis, and failure investigations
- Identify safety improvements and develop resourceful solutions
- Prepare status updates and communicate with internal teams and external partners
- Manage inter-organizational and customer interactions on technical issues
- Work independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions
- Participate in test readiness reviews, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews
- Assist with procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
- Coordinate test crews, support equipment, and vehicle configurations
- Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
Required Qualifications
- BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline
- 5 or more years of applicable fluids, pneumatic, or cryogenic experience
- Understanding of P&ID's, pressure systems, and associated GSE
- Understanding of Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process
- Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
- Experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including fluids, thermal, leak, proof
- Cryogenic commodity and system experience
- Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems
- Experience with commodity operations (GH2, GOX, GN2, GHe)
- Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)
Work Schedule and Travel
- 1st shift primary; ability to work multiple shifts, weekends, and extended hours during test operations
- Travel of 25% during planning phases and up to 75% during periods of offsite testing
