You will work as a spacecraft development engineer to create aerospace multidisciplinary models and simulations that ensure the correctness and performance of flight software using desktop computers, software-in-the-loop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop labs, and on-vehicle simulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain tools needed to design, build, deploy and support simulation infrastructure
  • Develop and integrate multidisciplinary models for multi-vehicle simulation using MATLAB, Simulink, and NASA's TRICK framework
  • Collaborate with GN&C and other subsystems and spacecraft systems engineers to support development of low- and high-fidelity plant models
  • Support development, execution and verification of simulations and tools for functionality validation
  • Interact across engineering disciplines to ensure model validation

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • 5+ years software development and debugging skills in C/C++, MATLAB, and Simulink
  • Experience auto-coding Simulink to C++
  • Strong fundamentals in rigid body dynamics, fluid mechanics, and first-principles physics-based mathematical models
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines such as Gitlab
  • Experience with git configuration management
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team throughout development, review, deployment, and support phases
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or higher degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary and familiarity with software verification approaches
  • Experience developing software for software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Experience writing software that efficiently handles production, distribution and storage of large data sets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with verification and validation of aerospace simulations and models
  • Experience developing and maintaining simulation models including plant physics, sensors, and actuators
  • Familiarity with aerospace systems and design
  • Experience using AI to augment workflows, processes, and analysis
