MK1 Lunar Software Development Engineer II (Flight Software / Software Integration) Verified today
About the role
This position is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers. You will support the development and maintenance of the flight software and software integration for the Lunar MK1 Vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of the MK1 Lunar Lander Flight Software and its test infrastructure
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and iteratively design and develop applications and systems to meet their needs
- Support software integration and testing of avionics, flight software and ground software
- Diagnose and fix software problems at multiple levels, including unit, software in-the-loop, on-hardware, and on-vehicle issues
Required qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 2+ years of embedded software development experience
- Strong and active development skills in C/C++ and Python
- Solid understanding of IP networking concepts
- Experience with communications protocols and hardware drivers
- Experience using and customizing CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Gitlab, Jenkins)
- Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired qualifications
- Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines
- Demonstrated skill at deploying production distributed systems using Ansible, Terraform, GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Strong debugging skills at the software/hardware boundary and familiarity with software verification approaches
- Experience leading development of software simulation testbed for a complex physical system
- Experience with mission operations and ground data systems
- Familiarity with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and Board Support Packages (BSPs)
- Familiarity with aerospace systems and design
Compensation and benefits
Base pay range for WA applicants: $134,961 - $188,945.40 per year. Other site ranges may differ.
