About the Role

You will join the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon lander product lines. Your focus will be on avionics and control hardware development, from design through flight readiness. You will design test strategies, validate hardware, and collaborate across power, firmware, software, and systems engineering teams.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive test strategies, methodologies, and fixtures for power subsystem hardware from component level through integrated vehicle testing
  • Design and deliver test support hardware including test cards, breakout boards, and fixture circuits
  • Execute and supervise validation campaigns including acceptance testing and Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) testing
  • Ensure proper test execution, data collection, and system requirement verification
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts for EGSE and vehicle power sequencing
  • Troubleshoot electrical failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate and integrate interfacing subsystems with the power subsystem
  • Support design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and design for test activities
  • Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering with primary focus in hardware test and validation and electrical circuit design
  • Understanding of power electronics hardware development such as high-voltage switching
  • Experience developing test plans, test procedures, and acceptance test procedures for high-voltage applications
  • Experience with automated test scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of power systems hardware including power distribution, DC-DC converters, power integrity, and power sequencing
  • Experience with mixed-signal circuit design including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection
  • Familiarity with power supplies (linear, LDO, DC/DC), MOSFETs, op-amps, ADCs, and DACs
  • Knowledge of common communication methods such as RS422, RS485, SPI, LVDS, or similar protocols
  • Desire to work hands-on both independently and as part of a team throughout the development and test phases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field
  • 7+ years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems
  • Experience designing or analyzing DC-DC converters, power supplies, or power distribution architectures
  • Experience with brushless DC (BLDC) motors and controllers
  • Familiarity with power supply stability analysis, worst case analysis, or FMECA
  • PCB schematic and layout experience (Altium, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, or equivalent)
  • Experience with signal integrity and high-speed digital interfaces
  • Electrical design and analysis tool experience: LTSpice, PSpice, HyperLynx, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of radiation effects on electronics for space applications
  • Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft power systems hardware development, integration, and test
  • Experience with EMI/EMC, shock/vibration, or TVAC test environments
  • Experience designing high reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254, and similar standards

Compensation

Base pay range varies by location: CA and WA applicants $130,706.00 to $182,987.70; CO applicants $119,814.00 to $167,738.55. Other site ranges may differ.
