About the Role

You will contribute to systems engineering activities for the Guidance Navigation and Control (GN&C) subsystem and its components on Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers. This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops sustainable infrastructure for crew and cargo transport from Earth to the lunar surface.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop GN&C requirements with flow downs to component levels and companion verification methods. Support system and subsystem analyses needed to develop requirements.
  • Manage technical budgets and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with vehicle systems engineering, propulsion, structures, and dynamics teams to define subsystem boundaries and interfaces.
  • Perform analyses, simulations, and tests (including component and hardware-in-the-loop) to verify component and subsystem specifications and requirements.
  • Develop verification and validation plans to ensure software and hardware components and the integrated subsystem perform as specified.
  • Support the definition, development, and execution of simulations and tools necessary for verification of subsystem functionalities.
  • Support updates to schedule, resources, cost, and risks.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related subject areas.
  • Experience in full development lifecycle of GN&C subsystem on at least one aerospace program.
  • Experience in development and analysis of GN&C algorithms.
  • Demonstrated experience in development and testing of navigation sensors and control actuators.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementation and testing of GN&C software and hardware.
  • Solid system engineering and configuration management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and capable of planning and guiding complex technical work.
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic, fast-paced, and driven work environment.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related subject areas.
  • 10 or more years of design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading full development lifecycle of GN&C subsystem in at least one aerospace program.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge in development of planetary spacecraft GN&C systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with development of descent and landing software for planetary missions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Rendezvous and Proximity Operations and Docking.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: Colorado applicants $144,179.00 to $201,849.90; Washington applicants $156,802.00 to $219,522.45. Other site ranges may differ.
