NDT Technician - Computed Tomography (CT) - Level II - D Shift (Weekend Night Shift) Verified today
Role Overview
As an NDT Technician on Blue Origin's Operations team, you will perform development and production nondestructive testing (NDT) activities for spaceflight systems. Your work focuses on computed tomography and radiographic inspections of flight-critical metallic and composite hardware, directly supporting safe human spaceflight.
Shift
D Shift: Friday to Sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
- Perform computed tomography scans and interpret data
- Perform digital radiographic test (DRT) inspections
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria from drawings and shop work orders
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly process control checks
- Document and organize inspection results
- Interface with engineers and managers to communicate inspection findings
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years Level 2 experience in non-film radiography (DR or CR)
- 1+ year Level 2 experience in computed tomography
- Must pass Radiographic General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (study materials provided)
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in radiography
- 40 hours radiation safety training
- 40 hours digital radiography training
- Qualify to certify to Level II status per NAS-410 requirements in non-film radiography with minimum 800 documented hours
- Meet minimum vision requirements: near vision 20/25 (Snellen) at 16 inches or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12 inches; color perception 14-plate Ishihara test with minimum 12 panels correct
- Familiarity with ASTM E1695, E1742, E2445, and E2698 standards
- Experience operating NDT inspection equipment and radiation safety equipment
- Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations
- Experience analyzing data from metallic and composite structures
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- MS Office proficiency required
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as needed
- Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment per OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
Desired Qualifications
- Composites inspection experience
- Volume Graphics experience
- State or certifying entity card (ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray
- NAS-410 training in ultrasonics, eddy current, liquid penetrant, or magnetic particle
- Certification in ultrasonics, eddy current, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, infrared, terahertz, or laser shearography per NAS-410
- Training in computed and digital radiography
- Advanced phased array training
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Production environment experience, preferably aerospace
- Automated or robotic inspection equipment experience
- 1+ years aerospace experience
