NDT Technician - Eddy Current (ET) - Level II - A Shift Verified today
Role Overview
As an NDT Technician, you will perform development and production activities using Nondestructive Testing methods for spaceflight systems. You will help assure part integrity, quality and lifespan by conducting inspections of flight-critical hardware.
Shift
- A-shift: Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
- Perform inspections using Eddy Current equipment
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order
- Document and organize inspection results
- Interface and communicate with engineers and managers to describe inspection results
Required Qualifications
- 2 or more years of Level II experience in the Eddy Current Method
- Must be able to pass Eddy Current General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (study materials provided if needed)
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Eddy Current
- Qualify to certify to Level II status per NAS-410 requirements with minimum 800 hours documented experience
- Near Vision: Either 20/25 (Snellen) at 16 inches or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12 inches
- Color Perception: 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test with minimum 12 panels correctly identified
- Familiar with ASTM E426 Standard Practice for Electromagnetic (Eddy Current) Examination of Seamless and Welded Tubular Products, Titanium, Austenitic Stainless Steel and Similar Alloys
- Familiar with SAE-ARP4402 Eddy Current Inspection of Open Fastener Holes in Aluminum Aircraft Structure
- Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations for inspection activity
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Experience with MS Office products
- Willing to work overtime, weekends and off shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications
- Eddy Current Array Training and experience
- Familiar with ASTM E2884 Standard Guide for Eddy Current Testing of Electrically Conducting Materials Using Conformable Sensor Arrays
- Familiar with NASA PRC-6509 Process Specification for Eddy Current Inspection
- Fluorescent Penetrant and Radiography experience and certification
- Training in other NDT methods per NAS-410: Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle
- Certification in Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, Terahertz, or Laser Shearography per NAS-410
- Training in Computed and/or Digital Radiography
- 40 hours of Radiation Safety Training
- Experience in operation of NDT inspection equipment and radiation safety equipment
- State or certifying entity certification (ASNT, IRRSP) as radiographer for X-ray
- Advanced Phased Array Training
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Production environment experience, preferably in aerospace
- Experience with automated/robotic inspection equipment
- 1 or more years of aerospace experience
