NDT Technician – Eddy Current (ET) Level II - EVERGREEN Verified today
Role Overview
As an NDT Technician on Blue Origin's Operations team, you will perform development and production nondestructive testing activities across spaceflight systems. You'll work with a team of NDT specialists and engineers to assure part integrity, quality, and lifespan for flight-critical metallic and composite hardware and test samples.
Shift Options
- B-shift: Monday to Thursday, 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM
- C-shift: Friday to Sunday, 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- D-shift: Friday to Sunday, 5:00 PM to 5:30 AM
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
- Perform inspections using eddy current equipment
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawings or shop work orders
- Document and organize inspection results
- Interface and communicate with engineers and managers to describe inspection results
Required Qualifications
- 2 or more years of Level II experience in the eddy current method
- Must pass eddy current general and specific tests by week 3 (study materials provided)
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in eddy current
- Qualify to certify to level II status per NAS-410 with minimum 800 documented hours
- Vision requirements: near vision 20/25 (Snellen) at 16 inches or Jaeger No. 1 at 12 inches; colour perception 14 plate Ishihara test with minimum 12 panels correct
- Familiar with ASTM E426 standard for electromagnetic examination of tubular products in titanium, austenitic stainless steel and similar alloys
- Familiar with SAE-ARP4402 standard for eddy current inspection of open fastener holes in aluminum aircraft structure
- Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Experience with MS Office products
- Willing to work overtime, weekends and off-shifts as needed
- Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments

- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications
- Eddy current array training and experience
- Familiar with ASTM E2884 standard guide for eddy current testing using conformable sensor arrays
- Familiar with NASA PRC-6509 process specification for eddy current inspection
- Fluorescent penetrant and radiography experience and certification
- Minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in ultrasonics, radiography, liquid penetrant, or magnetic particle methods
- Ability to certify in ultrasonics, radiography, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, infrared, terahertz, or laser shearography per NAS-410
- Training in computed and digital radiography
- 40 hours of radiation safety training
- Experience operating NDT inspection equipment and radiation safety equipment
- X-ray radiographer card from a state or certifying entity such as ASNT or IRRSP
- Advanced phased array training
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Production environment experience, preferably aerospace
- Experience with automated or robotic inspection equipment
- 1 or more years aerospace experience
