NDT Technician - Level II - Eddy Current (ET) - A Shift Verified today
About the Role
You will perform development and production Nondestructive Testing activities using Eddy Current methods for spaceflight systems. As part of Blue Origin's Operations team, you'll work to assure part integrity, quality, and lifespan across flight-critical metallic and composite hardware.
Shift: A-shift, Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain examination techniques to properly inspect hardware, ensuring adherence to safety and specification requirements
- Perform inspections using Eddy Current equipment
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria from drawings and work orders
- Document and organize inspection findings
- Interface with Engineers and Managers to communicate inspection results
Required Qualifications
- 2 or more years of Level II experience in Eddy Current Method
- Ability to pass Eddy Current General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (study materials provided if needed)
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Eddy Current
- Ability to qualify to Level II status per NAS-410 with minimum 800 documented hours of experience
- Vision requirements: Near vision 20/25 (Snellen) at 16 inches or Jaeger No. 1 at 12 inches minimum; Color perception 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test with minimum 12 panels correctly identified
- Familiarity with ASTM E426 Standard Practice for Electromagnetic (Eddy Current) Examination of Seamless and Welded Tubular Products, Titanium, Austenitic Stainless Steel and Similar Alloys
- Familiarity with SAE-ARP4402 Eddy Current Inspection of Open Fastener Holes in Aluminum Aircraft Structure
- Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Experience with MS Office products
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum
Desired Qualifications
- Eddy Current Array training and experience
- Familiarity with ASTM E2884 Standard Guide for Eddy Current Testing of Electrically Conducting Materials Using Conformable Sensor Arrays
- Familiarity with NASA PRC-6509 Process Specification for Eddy Current Inspection
- Fluorescent Penetrant and Radiography experience and certification
- Training requirements per NAS-410 in Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, or Magnetic Particle
- Certification in Ultrasonics, Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, Terahertz, or Laser Shearography per NAS-410
- Training in Computed and/or Digital Radiography
- 40 hours of Radiation Safety Training
- Experience operating NDT and radiation safety equipment
- State or ASNT/IRRSP radiographer card for X-ray
- Advanced Phased Array training
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Production environment experience, preferably aerospace
- Experience with automated/robotic inspection equipment
- 1 or more years of aerospace experience
