NDT Technician - Penetrant - Level I - A Shift Verified today
About the role
You will perform development and production activities using Nondestructive Testing (NDT) methods for various spaceflight systems. This position focuses on Penetrant inspection of metallic flight hardware and test samples. You will share in the team's impact on assuring part integrity, quality, and life span.
Shift
A Shift (1st shift): Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:40 PM
Responsibilities
- Perform inspections using Fluorescent Penetrant Test (PT) inspection method on critical flight hardware for spaceflight systems
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to safety and specification requirements
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order
- Perform all necessary daily, weekly, and monthly process control checks
- Document and organize inspection results
- Interface and communicate with Engineers and Managers to describe inspection results
- Work overtime as needed
Qualifications
- 1 or more years of Level 2 experience in Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection method
- Must pass Penetrant General Test and Specific Test by week 3 (study materials provided if needed)
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Penetrant Testing
- Qualify to certify to Level II status per NAS-410 requirements in Liquid Penetrant with minimum 400 documented hours
- Familiar with ASTM E1417 Standard Practice for Liquid Penetrant Testing
- Visual Weld Experience
- Meet minimum vision requirements: Near vision of 20/25 (Snellen) at 16 inches or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12 inches; Color perception of 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test with minimum 12 panels correctly identified
- Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations for inspection activity
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Experience with MS Office products
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and off shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines
- Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum
Desired qualifications
- Radiation Safety Training
- Carded by a state or certifying entity (such as ASNT, IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray
- Ability to meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in other NDT methods: Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle
- Ability to certify in one or more additional methods: Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, Radiographic Testing, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, Terahertz, or Laser Shearography per NAS-410
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Experience in a production environment, preferably aerospace
- Experience with automated or robotic inspection equipment
- 1 or more years of aerospace experience
