Role Overview

As a Radiography NDT Technician Level II, you will perform development and production nondestructive testing activities for Blue Origin spaceflight systems. You will inspect flight-critical metallic and composite flight hardware and test samples, ensuring part integrity, quality and lifespan through radiographic examination.

Shift

  • A-shift: Monday to Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
  • Perform inspections using Digital Radiographic Test (DRT)
  • Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order
  • Perform all necessary daily, weekly, monthly process control checks
  • Document and organize inspection results
  • Interface with Engineers and Managers to describe inspection results

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Level 2 experience in non-film radiography (DR or CR)
  • Current card certification as a radiographer for X-ray by a state or certifying entity (ASNT, IRRSP)
  • Must meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Radiography
  • 40 hours of Radiation Safety Training
  • Minimum 800 hours documented experience to certify to Level II status per NAS-410 requirements in Non-Film Radiography
  • Ability to pass Radiographic General Test and Specific Test by week 3
  • Minimum Vision Requirements: Near Vision 20/25 (Snellen) at 16 inches or Jaeger No. 1 at 12 inches; Color Perception 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test with minimum 12 panels correctly identified
  • Familiarity with ASTM E1742 Standard Practice for Radiographic Examination
  • Familiarity with ASTM E2445 Performance Evaluation and Long-Term Stability of CR System
  • Familiarity with ASTM E2698 Standard Practice for Examination using Digital Detector Arrays
  • Experience in operation of NDT inspection equipment and radiation safety equipment
  • Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations
  • Experience analyzing data from metallic and composite structures
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
  • MS Office proficiency required
  • Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
  • Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends and off shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines

Desired Qualifications

  • Eddy Current and Fluorescent Penetrant experience
  • 40 hours of Digital Radiography Training and/or Computed Radiography
  • Ability to meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, or Magnetic Particle
  • Ability to certify in Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, Terahertz or Laser Shearography per NAS-410
  • Training in Computed and Digital Radiography
  • Advanced Phased Array Training
  • Knowledge of industry NDT standards
  • Production environment experience, preferably aerospace
  • Experience with automated or robotic inspection equipment
  • 1+ years of aerospace experience
