NDT Technician - Radiography (RT) - Level II - B Shift Verified today
About This Role
You will perform nondestructive testing (NDT) development and production activities for spaceflight systems as part of Blue Origin Operations. This position focuses on radiographic inspection of flight-critical metallic and composite flight hardware and test samples using Digital Radiographic Test (DRT) methods.
Shift
- B-shift: Monday through Thursday, 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM
Your Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements
- Perform inspections using Digital Radiographic Test (DRT)
- Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order
- Perform all necessary daily, weekly, and monthly process control checks
- Document and organize inspection results
- Interface and communicate with engineers and managers to describe inspection results
Required Qualifications
- Meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in Radiography
- 40 hours of Radiation Safety Training
- Meet minimum vision requirements: Near Vision either 20/25 (Snellen) at 16" or Jaeger No. 1 at not less than 12"; Color Perception 14 Plate Ishihara Color Test with minimum 12 panels correctly identified
- Familiar with and understand requirements in ASTM E1742 (Standard Practice for Radiographic Examination), ASTM E2445 (Performance Evaluation and Long-Term Stability of CR System), and ASTM E2698 (Standard Practice for Examination using Digital Detector Arrays)
- Experience operating NDT inspection equipment and radiation safety equipment
- Ability to determine optimal parameters per defined techniques and system calibrations
- Experience analyzing data from metallic and composite structures
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams
- Microsoft Office proficiency required
- Ability to lift and transport parts and inspection equipment within OSHA requirements
- Experience in both lab and field inspection environments
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and off-shifts as needed to meet critical deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in non-film radiography (DR or CR)
- Carded by a state or certifying entity (such as ASNT or IRRSP) as a radiographer for X-ray
- Strong desire for Eddy Current and Fluorescent Penetrant experience
- 40 hours of Digital Radiography Training and/or Computed Radiography
- Ability to meet minimum training requirements per NAS-410 in other methods including Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle
- Ability to certify in one or more methods: Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Infrared, Terahertz, or Laser Shearography per NAS-410
- Training in Computed and Digital Radiography
- Advanced Phased Array Training
- Knowledge of industry NDT standards
- Experience in a production environment, preferably aerospace
- Experience with automated or robotic inspection equipment
- 1 or more years of aerospace experience
