Overview

As an Avionics PCB Design Automation Engineer in Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), you will apply your expertise in PCB development tools and automation processes to optimize digital, analog, mixed-signal, high-speed, RF and high-power PCB layout designs for aerospace avionics products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and layout high-performance, high-reliability PCBs for aerospace applications
  • Develop and maintain board eCAD design libraries, including part footprints and related database information
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software product developers to configure and automate tool flows and processes
  • Configure and automate Altium Enterprise Agile software to optimize PCB and library development
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PCB design and library development tool and process issues
  • Ensure design and manufacturing practices adhere to industry standards and regulations
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for PCB layout and design
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians on PCB design layout, library development and Altium best practices
  • Contribute to PCB and PCBA design reviews by providing DFM, DFA, DFT and similar value-added information
  • Collaborate in defining PCB development process improvements, procedures and checklists

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 7 or more years of experience in PCB development, with at least 5 years directly related to Altium tool configuration and process automation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of PCB best practices for design, manufacturing, assembly and testing
  • Familiarity with PCB assembly industry standards and regulations such as IPC-6012 Class 3
  • Strong understanding of digital, analog, mixed-signal, and high-speed layout and design including impedance-controlled stack-up and multi-layer boards
  • Ability to create complex, detailed PCB layout designs including fine-pitch BGA routing with microvias, blind and buried vias
  • Ability to create and maintain symbol and footprint libraries including complex devices such as large pin-count connectors and BGAs
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and strong task ownership
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using industry-leading software such as Cadence Allegro or Siemens Expedition (Mentor Graphics)
  • Experience configuring and automating PCB tools across enterprise computing environments such as AWS
  • Experience configuring and automating PCB tools to work with ERP and PLM tools such as PTC Windchill and mechanical CAD tools such as PTC Creo
  • Experience using Python, DelphiScript and other software and APIs to automate and optimize PCB development with Altium
  • Familiarity with tools that support PCB design for fabrication and assembly such as Siemens Valor and Valor Parts Library

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $130,706.00 to $182,987.70. Other site ranges may differ.
