About the role

You will support the production and manufacturing of rocket engine components for the BE-7 Lunar Lander Engine. This role combines troubleshooting manufacturing challenges with design innovation to transition engines from development through qualification to production.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and find resolutions for non-conforming hardware during engine development, qualification, and production.
  • Develop design improvements for rocket engine components and assemblies to enable flight production.
  • Drive design for manufacturability improvements based on root cause analyses, engine testing, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Update assembly procedures for flight engines through detailed changes in CAD models and drawings using configuration management.
  • Balance multiple technical issues and work across valve components, pressurized fluid systems, rotating hardware, machined 3D printed components, brazed and welded assemblies, and precision assembly.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of proven experience with component design, fabrication, build, and assembly.
  • Experience examining non-conforming hardware and supporting machining and manufacturing of aerospace components.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and large assembly model and configuration management (Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM preferred).
  • Experience in the design of turbomachinery, valves, or combustion devices.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels of the organization.
  • B.S. degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Desired experience

  • Design, production, and assembly experience in rocket engines, jet propulsion, aircraft, spacecraft, oil and gas, automotive, naval, nuclear, or heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace materials, treatments, and manufacturing methods.
  • Continuous improvement process experience (DMAIC, PDSA).
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility.
  • Production quality management systems and transitioning products from development to production.

Location and visa
