Pumps Fluids Analyst Sr – Lunar Permanence Verified today
Role Overview
You will be a key member of the Lunar Core Components Pumps team within the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products. You will perform fluids analysis on lunar vehicle pump components and apply insights to guide design engineers toward optimal designs across a broad range of applications.
You will support the complete product lifecycle, seeing hardware mature from initial CAD model through flight-qualified hardware installed on lunar vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fluids analysis on lunar vehicle pump components
- Provide design recommendations to Responsible Engineers for optimal pump design
- Apply analysis tools and methodologies to design and analyze primary flowpath performance at appropriate fidelity for each product lifecycle stage
- Generate and run secondary flow analysis models and provide design feedback
- Provide test support to anchor analytical models and aid product development
- Deliver expert guidance on pump design and performance across varied environments
- Optimize and co-develop pump designs for efficiency, power consumption, system integration, manufacturability, cost, mass, leakage, and reliability
- Provide technical leadership of a small fluids analysis team
- Support complete lifecycle from definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation
Required Qualifications
- M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years experience in thermal and/or fluids analysis and mechanical component design
- 5+ years experience with classical hand calculations for thermal and/or fluids analysis based on common aerospace reference materials (Shigley, Bruhn, Roark)
- 3+ years experience with Ansys CFX, Ansys Fluent, Workbench, or other CFD analysis software
- 2+ years experience with Thermal Desktop, FloCAD, or other thermal analysis software
- Experience with a wide variety of manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization, and allowable development
Desired Qualifications
- Experience analyzing cryogenic components
- Experience with script automation in Ansys Workbench
- Experience working on human-rated space hardware
- Experience working with NASA requirements
Compensation
Base pay range varies by location:
- CA: $145,188.00 - $203,263.20
- CO: $133,500.00 - $186,898.95
- WA: $145,188.00 - $203,263.20
- Other site ranges may differ
