About this role

You will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems for propulsion engines, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines.

What you'll do

  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for test (DFT) for reliable space vehicles.
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods such as precision machining, welding, brazing, additive manufacturing, and advanced assembly.
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances and develop corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work aligns with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Apply emerging AI technologies alongside traditional manufacturing engineering tools to optimize processes and improve first-time quality.

Team and focus

The Engines manufacturing team provides propulsion solutions for internal programs and external customers. The Huntsville Engine Factory is responsible for rate production of BE-4 and BE-3U engines which power the New Glenn vehicle. The factory leverages world-class machining assets and advanced fabrication equipment to build and test engines that perform reliably in the most challenging environments.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (or other relevant fields) from an accredited university.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience: 3+ years as Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years as Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, or 8+ years as Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive.
  • Experience with machining, assembly, balancing rotating hardware, non-destructive test, or precision clean processes.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design fundamentals.
  • Basic tooling or fixture design and fabrication.
  • Experience with Bill-of-Materials (BOM) and BOM reconciliation.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and presentation skills (Gantt charting, JIRA, MS Project, Confluence, or similar).
  • Prior aerospace or automotive manufacturing engineering experience.

Position details

  • Multiple positions and shifts available in Huntsville, AL.
  • Relocation assistance available.
  • Shift B: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 PM to 3:30 AM.
  • Shift C: Friday-Sunday, 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Shift D: Friday-Sunday, 5:00 PM to 3:30 AM.
