About the Role

This position supports the New Glenn program, a single-configuration heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable and human-capable.

As an RF Engineer III in Blue Origin's Avionics team, you will:

  • Design, develop, and verify high-performance RF systems, radios and antennas for the New Glenn flight vehicle
  • Develop robust RF systems that ensure reliable data transmission during all mission phases, from pre-launch testing through orbital operations
  • Engage with RF team and technical leads on requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, test and production release of on-vehicle RF systems
  • Follow avionics designs through formal verification, environmental qualification, release, and flight support activities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of proven experience in design, development, integration, test, and operation of complex electronics
  • Knowledge of telemetry system architectures, including multiplexers, encoders, transmitters, receivers, and ground station equipment
  • High-speed digital, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuit design, build, and troubleshooting, with understanding of EE principles
  • Some experience in PCB design, layout, fabrication and testing
  • Circuit analysis and simulation, such as worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and logic or P-Spice simulation
  • Experience in grounding and general board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs
  • RF communication testing or subsystem/component design, with a strong background in RF principles
  • Experience with telemetry data acquisition systems design and optimization for high-reliability aerospace applications
  • Background developing circuit cards, consumer electronics, wireless devices, or other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products
  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation tools such as ANSYS HFSS, AWR-Microwave Office, Altium designer, and python scripting
  • Very good documentation skills
  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the design, modeling, simulation, verification, qualification, and production phases

Desired Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related subject areas
  • 10+ years of proven experience in design, development, integration and test of complex RF Systems
  • Familiarity with aerospace telemetry standards including IRIG 106, CCSDS, and spectrum management requirements
  • Knowledge of SDR architectures and implementation of digital signal processing algorithms
  • Background with launch vehicle hardware development, integration, or test
  • Experience with RF link budget analysis and optimization for space-to-ground communications
  • Good understanding of antenna principles and design
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including schedule development, resource allocation, and risk management

Compensation

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $130,706.00 - $182,987.70. Other site ranges may differ.
