Role Summary
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers. You will lead test campaigns in support of development, acceptance and qualification of flight avionics and communication hardware within the Core Components division.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and approve avionics test plans and procedures with expertise in RF communications test and environmental test methodologies
- Support Design and Systems Engineers in avionics hardware design and verification plan development
- Work with Hardware and Software Design Engineers to design, build, and verify custom Automated Test Equipment
- Lead test readiness efforts, resolve work stoppages, and delegate supporting tasks
- Lead and directly run test procedures
- Enforce safety policies during test operations
- Troubleshoot test anomalies real-time and identify test article and test equipment non-conformances
- Lead anomaly investigations, root cause analyses, and develop recovery plans
- Consolidate, analyze, present, and archive test data
- Generate test record summaries and support generation of verification artifacts
- Guide avionics and RF communication hardware through environmental testing and ensure hardware and records meet engineering and quality requirements
- Develop and improve processes and standard procedures to optimize quality and team efficiency
- Train Test Specialists and other Test Engineers
- Provide support to strategic initiatives and technology maturation
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. in electrical, computer, or aerospace engineering, physics, or related field
- Minimum 2-3 years aerospace test experience including test requirements, plans, procedures, reports, test equipment and setups; operating and troubleshooting test setups and articles; environmental testing including Shock/Vibration, Thermal Cycles, Vacuum, and/or EMI/EMC
- Minimum 1-2 years hardware test experience of avionics and RF communication devices at LRU or system level (Command & Control, Input/Output, Network, RF, Power, Navigation, Audio/Video, etc.)
- Proficient in standard electronic lab tests and troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to work hands-on, independently and as part of a team, throughout development and production phases of mechanical and electronic assembly product lifecycle
- Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work with multi-functional teams including mechanical, systems, and operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing, designing, and/or verifying custom Automated Test Equipment
- Experience working with Python
- Familiarity with Linux and other Unix-style operating systems
- Familiarity with git, JIRA, Windchill
- Experience developing hardware to IPC J-STD-0001xS, IPC/WHMA-A-620x-S, and/or NASA-STD-8739.n standards
- Experience with DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and SMC-S-016 testing standards
- Experience with safety-critical systems development in automotive, aerospace, medical, or similar fields

Compensation and Benefits
Base Pay Range for WA applicants: $107,136.00 - $149,990.40 (other site ranges may differ)
