Senior Automation Controls Engineer
Blue Origin Operations is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer to support manufacturing automation initiatives across all facilities.
What you will do
- Design and implement manufacturing process automation solutions; define technical architecture, roadmap and deployment strategy
- Collaborate with data science and analytics teams to develop closed-loop, data-driven enhancements to manufacturing systems using IoT analytics
- Perform electrical design and modification of industrial control and safety systems
- Design and modify PLC and robot programs
- Design process control systems for sophisticated manufacturing equipment
- Design and develop data collection solutions
- Support development of SCADA applications (Ignition, Kepware, AWS, etc.)
- Provide production support for manufacturing equipment
Minimum qualifications
- 10+ years experience with automation software development languages (Ladder, ST, C/C++)
- 10+ years experience with controls and automation software development environments (Siemens TIA Portal, Allen Bradley Control Logix)
- 10+ years experience developing 'from scratch' software for automated tooling or equipment
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and review electrical and mechanical drawings
- Strong design and process simplification skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and with humility to partners
- Commitment to quality and attention to detail
- U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident (Green Card), refugee, or granted asylum status
Preferred qualifications
- B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Electrical, Controls, or related engineering field
- Familiarity with control system and equipment safety standards (IEC 61131, ANSI B11, NFPA 79, RIA 15.06)
- Experience writing software in high-level languages such as Python or C#
- NC programming experience (G-code, TP, Karel)
- Technical writing and presentation experience
- Experience with electrical verification of machines
- Experience defining, implementing, and maintaining controls code from source control
- Hands-on experience with CNC machines, metrology systems (laser tracking), and inspection processes
- Experience with AutoCAD Electrical for industrial control system design
Employment details
Location: Greater Seattle Area. Relocation provided. Some travel potentially required.

Compensation
Base pay range for Washington applicants: $197,529.00 to $276,539.55. Other site ranges may differ.
