Role Overview
The Senior Construction Superintendent will lead daily construction operations for Blue Origin's launch pad facility and future launch infrastructure upgrades. Reporting to the Senior Manager - Launch Infrastructure Development, with dotted line reporting to the Senior Construction Project Manager, this role directly supervises subcontractors, ensures quality control, maintains safety standards, and coordinates daily activities to meet project milestones and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of subcontractors performing complex construction activities at the launch pad site
- Daily coordination of construction operations, labor allocation, and equipment utilization
- Implementation of quality control measures ensuring all work meets Blue Origin standards and construction documents
- Enforcement of site safety protocols in compliance with aerospace industry requirements
- Daily monitoring of construction progress against project schedule with proactive issue resolution
- Technical review of construction methodologies for specialized launch infrastructure
- Collaboration with Blue Origin engineering teams on field issues related to launch pad specifications
- Maintenance of detailed daily logs, progress reports, and construction documentation
- Field-level problem identification and resolution to maintain schedule and budget integrity
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or suitable experience with similar project scope and scale
- 10+ years of experience in construction supervision
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification
- Demonstrated experience supervising construction of complex concrete structures and mechanical systems
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors simultaneously
- Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents and engineering drawings
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Capable of walking, climbing, and navigating active construction sites
- May require lifting up to 25 pounds
- Must be willing to travel to launch sites as needed
- May require extended hours during critical construction phases
- May require participation in shift operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in aerospace, power generation, or similar industrial facilities
- Lead construction superintendent on projects of similar scope and scale
- Experience with launch pad, test stand, or similar specialized infrastructure construction
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards and requirements
- Experience in remote or logistically challenging construction environments
- Understanding of cryogenic systems, high-pressure piping, or specialized aerospace infrastructure
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills
