Role

As Senior Cyber Systems Engineer for Blue Ring, you will provide technical security requirements connecting data from flight software to system functions across ground operations and test engineering. You will ensure program requirements, operational descriptions, and system designs meet customers' cybersecurity needs. Working from functional description and command/telemetry definitions, you will create an overall cyber security architecture for Blue Ring satellites, guiding data format, streams, and storage development to harden the complete spacecraft solution.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and configure network topologies and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing protocols)
  • Use outcome-driven metrics and key performance indicators to measure cybersecurity effectiveness and drive improvements
  • Assess compliance using monitoring technologies, regular audits and reviews; identify non-compliance and recommend corrective actions
  • Document space vehicle network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Support internal and external audits with documentation and compliance evidence
  • Maintain policies and procedures aligned with security frameworks, regulations, and internal standards
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify threats and vulnerabilities; analyze impact and likelihood
  • Work closely with spacecraft development engineers, spaceflight operations, and test engineering for seamless implementation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or certification in cybersecurity, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience with space systems cyber standards: CNSSP-12, NCSDMO-8, CNSSI-4003, CNSSI-4005, NIST 800-53
  • 10+ years experience in space systems command and data handling systems
  • Knowledge of cyber security strategies and practices within the National Security Space industry
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with National Security Space missions and USG acquisition offices and authorities
  • Experience with AI and modern cyber security implementations
  • Experience implementing security products and designs in OSI layers 2 and 3

Compensation

Base pay range varies by location: CA/WA/VA $145,188 to $203,263; CO $133,500 to $186,899. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, 401(k) with up to 5% company match, stock options, up to four weeks PTO, and 14 company-paid holidays.
