Blue Origin is pioneering space-based communications with TeraWave, a satellite network delivering symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps globally. The multi-orbit constellation consists of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO).
The Role
You will own the test automation framework for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) verification on the TeraWave program. You are the technical anchor for test automation and will mentor the automation test engineering team.
Your Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the test automation framework for extensibility, robustness, and production line deployment readiness
- Develop, review, and execute automated test scripts and regression suites for HIL verification
- Drive test coverage improvements and reduce manual test burden
- Create data-driven test sequences optimized for production cycle time and coverage efficiency
- Debug and triage automation failures; implement improvements to robustness and repeatability
- Develop training materials and deliver knowledge transfer to production test engineers
- Support qualification of automated test suites as production acceptance test methods
- Mentor automation test engineers; review scripts and technical contributions
- Coordinate with EGSE Software Engineers on framework integration and software interfaces
- Interface with VTB and Electrical Test teams on test coverage and bench integration
- Participate in design reviews and provide test automation and design-for-test feedback
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or closely related field
- 7+ years of experience in test automation, embedded software testing, or hardware-in-the-loop test development
- Proficiency in Python and experience maintaining automated test frameworks in hardware test context
- Experience integrating automated test systems with hardware interfaces (serial protocols, data buses, analog I/O)
- Demonstrated ability to design test frameworks for maintainability, reusability, and scalability
- Experience with nonconformance management, anomaly disposition, and corrective action processes
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to brief test automation status and architecture to program leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on spacecraft, launch vehicle, or defense electronics programs with automated acceptance testing
- Background with GSEOS, COSMOS, LabVIEW, NI TestStand, or similar ground test software frameworks
- Experience with LabVIEW or NI TestStand for hardware-in-the-loop test development
- Experience qualifying automated test suites as production acceptance test methods
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated regression frameworks for embedded or hardware-in-the-loop systems
- Background with data bus protocol testing (SpaceWire, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, RS-422) via automated test scripts
- Experience developing technical training for production test personnel
Compensation
Base Pay Range:
- Colorado applicants: $144,179.00 to $201,849.90 annually
- Washington applicants: $156,802.00 to $219,522.45 annually
- Other site ranges may differ
