Senior Embedded Software Engineering Manager – Blue National Security Verified today
The Role
Part of the In-Space Systems business unit, this position focuses on addressing space infrastructure and on-orbit mobility challenges. You will lead embedded software engineers developing mission-critical systems for classified National Security programs.
What You Will Do
- Lead a team of embedded software engineers developing mission-critical software for National Security programs
- Spend approximately 50% of your time on hands-on code review, design review, writing and debugging code alongside team members
- Spend approximately 50% of your time on team development, management, mentorship, and technical leadership
- Establish technical direction and software development processes for embedded systems aligned with National Security business unit objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software integration with hardware systems meets performance requirements
- Manage project schedules, resource allocation, and technical risk mitigation strategies
- Implement and maintain software development lifecycle processes compliant with security requirements
- Ensure software quality, reliability, and security through rigorous testing and validation procedures
- Interface with government and industry partners on classified programs
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software development
- At least 5 years in a leadership role
- 2+ years of experience managing teams developing real-time embedded software for aerospace or defense applications
- Current hands-on technical proficiency in embedded software development practices and tools
- Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead technical discussions
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in aerospace or defense embedded software development
- Experience with NASA and/or Space Force Standards
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for embedded systems
- Experience with FPGA integration and hardware/software co-design
- Demonstrated ability to balance technical contributions with leadership responsibilities
- Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies in regulated environments
Compensation and Location
Base pay range for Colorado applicants: $181,144.00 - $253,601.25. Other site ranges may differ.
Location: Littleton, CO. Relocation assistance provided.
