Join the Lunar Permanence business unit, developing Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and sustainable lunar infrastructure. You will work directly with NASA and National Team Partners on the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program, contributing to humanity's return to the Moon.

Reporting to the Design Section within the Lunar Transportation business unit, you will apply structural analysis expertise to deliver safe, reliable hardware that meets requirements within cost and schedule constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of load path from conceptual design to drawing release and hardware creation
  • Analysis of primary and secondary spacecraft structures
  • Integration of structural analysis with loads and dynamics environments
  • Finite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to tests
  • Strength checks and analysis report generation
  • Test and verification plan and report generation
  • Support configuration development and trade studies

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering
  • 8 or more years of experience
  • Solid foundation of structural static and dynamic fundamentals
  • Passion for spacecraft structural and environmental loads development and validation
  • Ability to solve static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods (hand calculations, in-house tools, commercial analytical tools)
  • Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle, or automotive in areas including: external loads, vibro-acoustic analysis, thermal loads, analysis using Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, or Optistruct

Desired Qualifications

  • Vehicle load path definition and strength analysis
  • Analysis of metallic and composite structures (skin-stringer, fittings, sandwich panels)
  • Composite design and analysis skills in thermoset, thermoplastic, metal matrix, and ceramic matrix composites
  • Manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, characterization, and allowables development
  • Experience testing materials, joints, components, and vehicles
  • Structural optimization using Optistruct, HyperSizer, Nastran Sol 200, Abaqus, or Adams
  • Experience with ProEngineer Wildfire 4 / Creo Parametric or greater
  • Experience with human spaceflight
  • Experience with composites

Compensation

Base pay range varies by location: Colorado applicants $133,500 - $186,898.95; Washington applicants $145,188 - $203,263.20. Other site ranges may differ.
