Senior Fluids Test Engineer - Lunar Permanence Verified today
About the role
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, developing Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers. You will support the Core Components Test team through development, acceptance, and qualification testing of flight hardware for lunar landers.
This is a hands-on position applying broad multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge (fluids, thermal, mechanical, electrical/electronic) to advance safe human spaceflight. You will work with a team of specialists, technicians, and engineers.
What you will do
- Develop, plan, and execute thermal and fluid component tests including development, qualification, acceptance, performance, and environmental testing
- Develop test requirements, plans, and procedures to ensure acceptable hardware and system performance
- Create and review test plans, test procedures, safety assessments, schematics, and other engineering artifacts
- Procure and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing
- Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews
- Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, and direct technician work
- Coordinate with internal customers and reduce, analyze, and archive test data
- Mentor, train, and supervise junior engineers
- Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
- 7+ years experience in aerospace test engineering or related technical field
- Hands-on test experience or exposure to at least one of the following: inspection, performance, leakage, shock, vibe, static/dynamic loading, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, pressurized operations, cryogenic fluids testing, EMC, or life testing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills including prioritization, scheduling, and providing succinct status reports
- A strong safety record
Desired qualifications
- 10+ years experience with pressurized equipment, thermal systems, cryogenics, or vacuum systems
- Experience reading P&ID schematics and layout designs
- Experience with or understanding of hazardous operations
- Experience with LOx/GOx or LH2 operations or testing
- Experience with propellant pumps or thermal control system pumps
- Experience with inert fluid operations or testing
- Experience with sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
Compensation and travel
Compensation range for Washington applicants: $145,188.00 to $203,263.20
Expected 25% travel during test planning and 75% travel during periods of integration and test at multiple offsite locations. Relocation provided.
Employment requirements
