Senior FPGA Engineer - Lunar Permanence Verified today
About this role
You will be part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, developing Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products for sustainable lunar transport of crew and cargo. You will design, verify, and test HDL for FPGA-based avionics components that must operate reliably in harsh environments and demanding spaceflight conditions.
Working directly with NASA and National Team Partners on the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program, you will play a key role in developing the lunar transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond Earth.
Responsibilities
- Develop HDL requirements in coordination with systems engineering, hardware engineering, software engineering and subsystem owners
- Generate FPGA requirements documents and develop verification plans
- Design, write HDL code, verify and document complex low-level modules with DAL A safety requirements in high radiation environments
- Lead effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly and concisely
- Travel approximately 10% to other Blue Origin locations for meetings and company events
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field
- 8 or more years of FPGA/ASIC design and verification work experience
- Proficiency in writing RTL using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL
- Strong understanding of FPGA design concepts, CDC, constraint definition, STA, and timing closure
- Proficiency with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, Lattice Diamond/Radiant, or Microchip Libero
- Proficiency with ModelSim/QuestaSim or equivalent simulators
- Proficiency in writing testbenches using UVM/OVM, SV Assertion, or functional/code coverage analysis
- Extensive background debugging failures in simulation and hardware to root cause problems
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as refugee or granted asylum
Desired qualifications
- 10 or more years of FPGA/ASIC development experience
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Tcl
- Proficiency with revision control systems such as Git/SVN
- Experience with common on-chip bus protocols such as AMBA (AXI, AHB, APB)
- Experience with IEEE 802.3, XAUI, PCIe, JESD204, I2C, SPI interfaces
- Working knowledge of NPR 7150.2, DO-254, or other safety-critical software standards
Compensation and benefits
Base pay range for Washington applicants: $156,802.00 to $219,522.45 annually. Other site ranges may differ.
