About the Role

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

You will lead the overall physical integration and packaging of structural, mechanical, fluids, and avionics subsystems. You will create and manage interface definitions between vehicle subsystems and potential payloads, including payload fairings, payload adapters, and payload-specific accommodations. You will coordinate regular configuration reviews to address interfaces, subsystem functionality, assembly and operations. You will communicate and collaborate with all development teams, payload customers, and mission-specific integration teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and release New Glenn Integrated Launch Vehicle Engineering drawings and models to support mission objectives
  • Create and maintain interface control drawings and models between major New Glenn elements, including payload fairings, payload adapters, and customer payload interfaces
  • Define and manage payload accommodation environments (dynamic envelopes, access provisions, separation system interfaces, and service connections)
  • Support payload-specific mission integration activities from early mission planning through launch readiness
  • Create streamlined processes and linked datasets to enhance design engineering processes and operationalize the System Design organization

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering and at least 2 years of experience in development and packaging of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures
  • Demonstrated configuration control experience from early trade studies through final design, manufacturing, and test
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong design and integration skills using 3-D CAD software and visualization tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling and planning principles and tools
  • Good judgment and flexibility; driven to achieve results

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 or more years of demonstrated ability in development and integration of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures
  • Experience with payload fairing design, payload adapter development, or payload integration on orbital launch vehicles
  • Familiarity with payload users guides, coupled loads analyses, and separation system requirements
  • Experience managing payload-specific interface control documents (ICDs) and coordinating with external payload customers
  • Experience using PTC Creo, DOORS, and Windchill
  • Knowledge of aerospace vehicle fabrication and assembly techniques
  • Ability to interpret and apply high-level system requirements to practical design solutions
  • Current secret clearance or ability to obtain needed clearance

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay range varies by location: Colorado applicants $110,938.00 to $155,312.85; Washington applicants $121,023.00 to $169,432.20. Other site ranges may differ.
