About the role
Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence business unit develops Blue Moon landers and related products. You will join the Lunar Core Components team as Senior Manager of Deployable Structures and Separation Systems, leading product-focused teams that design, build and test hardware critical to current and future lunar missions.
You will be accountable for team leadership, technical performance, schedule, and budget. You will manage day-to-day operations and career development of your engineers to deliver for customers.
Your responsibilities
- Define, own, and control the subsystem technical baseline, performing technical work and providing technical leadership.
- Define, own, and control the subsystem cost and schedule baseline, driving continuous improvement in a dynamic development environment.
- Manage a team of engineers to specify, design, analyze, manufacture, integrate, test, and deliver hardware and software components that satisfy mission objectives while balancing cost, schedule, and risk.
- Manage external procurements and internal hardware dependencies required to meet subsystem deliveries.
- Manage direct reports' professional development, including performance reviews, compensation and promotion management, and coaching.
- Drive excellence in programmatic and project operations through data-driven management.
Minimum qualifications
- Experience leading and mentoring technical teams, with strong leadership skills and commitment to employee development.
- 8 or more years of relevant experience in the full lifecycle development of aerospace structures and/or mechanisms.
- Demonstrated experience in one or more of: requirement definition, design solution definition, implementation, integration, verification and validation, qualification, commissioning, and operation.
- Resource management experience leading multidisciplinary development projects, including staffing, budget, and schedule.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Minimum B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience designing, building and testing pyrotechnically actuated mechanisms.
- Experience designing, building and testing large deployable structures.
- Experience with verification, integration, and test of integrated subsystems or systems on a spacecraft.
- Experience with space vehicle mission operations.
- Experience managing suppliers and subcontracts.
- Familiarity with agile project management.
- Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in engineering or another technical field.
Compensation
Compensation varies by location:
- CA applicants: $183,807 to $257,329
- CO applicants: $169,008 to $236,611
- WA applicants: $183,807 to $257,329
- Other site ranges may differ
