About the role
You will support the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Moon landers and related products for transporting crew and cargo to the lunar surface. As a Senior Technical Specialist in Avionics Packaging, you will create CAD models and design documentation for avionics equipment on lunar missions. You will work collaboratively with Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Quality teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test robust electronics enclosures and mechanical assemblies
- Create 3D CAD models and part, assembly, and installation drawings
- Create specifications and work process instructions
- Lead or participate in engineering design reviews
- Coordinate procurement of parts and assemblies
- Design test fixtures and fabrication tooling
- Participate in or provide technical guidance for hardware installations
- Report regularly on status of schedules and technical progress
Minimum Qualifications
- A.S. degree in drafting and design or equivalent designer experience
- 6+ years of experience designing/drafting mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures, brackets, test and assembly fixtures
- Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software
- Experienced with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiar with existing applicable drafting standards including ASME Y14.5
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering field
- Experienced with PTC Creo 8.0 or equivalent, PTC Windchill PLM
- 10+ years of experience
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, standards, and design best practices
- Experience with aerospace, launch vehicle, or spacecraft mechanical and/or avionics systems
- Aptitude and practical skills applied to mechanical assemblies, tools, and shop practices
- Experience with 3D printed part fabrication
- Flexible and open to tackling varied assignments and/or learning new skills
Compensation
Colorado applicants: $114,455.00 - $160,236.30
Washington applicants: $124,476.00 - $174,265.35
