The Role
Blue Origin Operations seeks a Shift Leader for Manufacturing Operations and Assembly at the Space Coast, Florida facility. You will oversee aerospace component production processes, leading teams to achieve operational excellence while collaborating across engineering, quality, and supply chain departments.
This position operates on rotating A, B, C, and D shifts and focuses on the fabrication and assembly of large aerospace structures using advanced drilling and assembly techniques.
What You Will Do
- Lead and optimize manufacturing operations to ensure efficiency and quality
- Develop and execute production plans to meet delivery schedules
- Mentor manufacturing teams, fostering a positive work environment and teamwork
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to address manufacturing challenges
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes and metrics
- Monitor production performance and provide regular updates to senior management
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards
- Manage budget and resource allocation for manufacturing activities
- Support new product introductions and scale up production capabilities
- Oversee fabrication and assembly of structural components to specification
- Implement advanced manufacturing techniques to enhance structural performance and reduce costs
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years managing a team in manufacturing or aerospace environment
- 5+ years as individual contributor in manufacturing or aerospace environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive decision-making
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certification, trade school training, or degree in related field
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing or integration
- Experience with fluid systems and applied chemistry fundamentals
- Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies (CAD software, ERP systems)
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing regulatory compliance
- Proven track record in team leadership and project management
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and practices
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
- Willingness to work overtime
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, or equivalent experience
