About the role

You will be a key player in the In-Space Systems business unit, creating a software simulation testbed for the Blue Ring Spacecraft. This role sits at the center of planning, architectural design, requirements gathering, certification, and implementation of a new simulation environment.

What you will do

  • Plan and develop simulation models that reflect real scenarios and operational activities.
  • Write detailed test scripts to ensure robust integration and test events.
  • Work with external customers and internal engineering teams to capture and implement simulation requirements.
  • Execute tests on simulations to verify model accuracy and robustness.
  • Support hardware and software integration, anchoring simulations to hardware data.
  • Contribute to release strategy, coordination, and documentation processes.
  • Domestic travel up to 10-15% as required.

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Over 3 years of proven expertise developing aerospace software simulation testbeds.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ development with strong technical depth.
  • Skilled in Python or similar scripting languages.
  • In-depth knowledge of real-time operating systems and embedded control systems, including APIs, interfaces, and device drivers.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as UDP/TCP, I2C, UART.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle and testing methodologies.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational ability.

Desired experience

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years in large-scale engineering systems.
  • Experience with space vehicle software simulation integration.
  • Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, GitLab, or GitHub.
  • Strong debugging at the software-hardware interface.
  • Familiarity with hardware emulation tools like Simics.
  • Expertise in customizing continuous integration systems.
  • Understanding of electrical and electronic engineering concepts.
  • Solid grasp of IP networking.
  • Competence in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Knowledge of GNC systems and 6DOF dynamics.
  • Proficiency with DOORs Next Generation, SVN, Jenkins.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance desired.

Compensation and location

Base pay range for Washington applicants: $134,961.00 to $188,945.40. Other site ranges may differ.
