Software Integration and Test Lead Verified today
About the Role
This role is part of Blue National Security and the In-Space Systems business unit. You will architect, develop, verify, and integrate software products using high-fidelity simulation environments for the Blue Ring spacecraft system. You are a hands-on technical leader who will work with subject matter experts to refine our scalable simulation environment and lead integration and test efforts.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and testing of a comprehensive simulation environment for Blue Ring's software
- Collaborate with test team leads to develop a simulation environment for software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and real-time environment tests across multiple platforms
- Work closely with hardware, systems, and autonomy engineers to define simulation requirements, bug fixes, interfaces, and behavioral boundaries
- Develop and integrate high-fidelity simulation models to test flight software across nominal and off-nominal operational scenarios
- Guide the team in software integration, verification, and validation testing activities
- Provide background support for on-orbit operations and lead troubleshooting of deployed spacecraft simulation issues
- Mentor junior engineers and drive technical growth and expertise of the team
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field
- 10+ years of experience in spacecraft software, simulation software, or embedded software development
- Proven experience with the architecture and development of complex simulation environments for flight or safety-critical embedded systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead the technical architecture of a complex software system
- Deep understanding of deterministic lockstep simulation design, coupling algorithms with representative models, with consideration for synchronization and repeatability
- Strong knowledge of GN&C sensor and actuator suite modeling (e.g., IMU, star tracker, magnetometer, reaction wheel assembly, magnetic torque rods)
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented problem-solving and software layering to facilitate modularity and reuse
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as UDP/TCP, I2C, UART, etc.
- Experience with the modern software lifecycle, configuration management (Git), CI/CD, and containerized environments
- Proficient with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance desired
- Familiarity with CCSDS standards for spacecraft telecommand and telemetry processing
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as Linux, QNX, VxWorks, or RTEMS
- Experience with onboard time management, precision timing interfaces, or GPS-disciplined time synchronization
- Familiarity with spacecraft FDIR (Fault Detection, Isolation, and Response) concepts
