About the Role

You will be accountable for the delivery of a spacecraft bus for a Blue National Security mission as part of Blue Origin's National Security division. Working with subsystem, systems, and integration engineers, you will lead a mission-specific Blue Ring spacecraft from design through integration and delivery to the launch base.

Blue Ring is a hybrid solar-electric and chemical-propelled spacecraft platform designed for mission maneuverability, versatility, and capacity at lower cost. You will collaborate with mission system engineers, payload system engineers, ground system engineers, and the program manager to ensure customer needs are met within the Blue Ring product line constraints.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the spacecraft development team to achieve technical and programmatic objectives
  • Define and lead the weekly technical rhythm by planning design cycles, production, integration and test schedules
  • Prioritize tasking of supporting engineers and deconflict competing resources across multiple missions
  • Coordinate with mission system, ground system, launch system, and payload engineers
  • Hold signature authority for spacecraft level engineering changes, risk dispositions, nonconformances, and failure review boards
  • Act as primary technical interface to customers for spacecraft development
  • Flow down customer demands while providing cost, schedule, technical, and resource impact analysis

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or related technical field
  • Over 15 years of experience in crafting, developing, and launching aerospace systems
  • Proven track record leading multidisciplinary technical teams and delivering flight hardware and/or software
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and proficiency in trade study methods
  • Leadership or management background with history of mentoring team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading a program through full lifecycle from concept through mission operations
  • Deep technical expertise in at least one spacecraft engineering discipline
  • Master's degree or higher in engineering or related technical field

Compensation and Benefits

Base Pay Range (location dependent):

  • CO applicants: $160,618.00 - $224,864.85
  • WA applicants: $169,624.00 - $237,473.25
