Role

You will work within the TeraWave Spacecraft Systems Engineering team to define and verify system requirements, interfaces, architecture, and concept of operations. You will collaborate across Assembly, Integration & Test, Mission Systems, Launch Vehicle, Payloads, and Mission Operations to ensure program needs are met.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Lead Systems Engineer to ensure compliance with design standards and best practices
• Apply systems engineering tools including CONOPs development, requirements definition and analysis, and interface definition
• Decompose high-level requirements into lower-level system architecture, design requirements, and functional block diagrams
• Ensure subsystems properly define requirements, verification and validation plans aligned with system and mission objectives
• Coordinate with specialty engineering functions supporting subsystem development teams
• Oversee verification and validation strategies to ensure software and hardware components meet system requirements and mission goals
• Oversee execution of test plans, procedures, and generation of results reports
• Collaborate with program elements including I&T, ground systems, flight operations, and mission management to create holistic solutions
• Identify and assist in management of technical risks
• Assist in planning and development of system-level verification methods and events
• Support the Assembly, Integration and Test team in developing test procedures and scripts
• Support integration activities in the spacecraft development facility
• Manage technical performance measures for the overall vehicle
• Participate in program reviews and drive actions to closure
• Drive process improvements with a sense of ownership and urgency

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent technical field
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in the space industry
• 5+ years of related experience in design, development, and flight test of spacecraft systems
• Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering fundamentals and experience in multiple system lifecycle phases
• Experience developing an integrated system with depth in one or more spacecraft subsystems and/or system design and integration
• Experience in definition of space system requirements and concept definitions spanning a broad range of mission objectives
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S. degree in a relevant technical field
• Experience through entire product development lifecycle from concept through manufacturing and operations
• Experience defining and performing complex trade studies
• Experience with design, development, and certification of spaceflight systems
• Experience with logical and physical architecture definition and decomposition
• Experience using hardware or software testbeds and lab environments for software and system verification
• Experience using requirements management software such as Jama
• Domain experience with spacecraft system and subsystem functions, interfaces, and communication protocols (serial, 1553, Ethernet, embedded software, etc.)

Compensation

Base pay range varies by location. Colorado applicants: $110,938.00 - $155,312.85. Washington applicants: $121,023.00 - $169,432.20. Other site ranges may differ.
